Experience

I have started teaching German online a few months ago on another platform and have enjoyed this so much that I am now looking to help more students getting into my beautiful native language. My first contact with language teaching occurred in 2011 when I was an intern with a language school on Tenerife (Spain). By getting an insight into how a language school works the desire to work as a language teacher myself was born. Meanwhile I have completed a 150 hour TEFL online-course with Global Language Training and am officially certified to teach English by a TEFL Master Certificate. These studies gave me a great insight into the methodology of how to generally teach foreign languages to both beginners and intermediates. From 2011 to 2012 I gained my first teaching experience as research assistant and lecturer at a German University when I was teaching Bachelor students in tourism management which helped me to improve my skills presenting information and arousing interest in my audience. Shortly after I was involved into proof-reading and updating as co-author of a teaching book for German tourism students. Around the same time I also worked as a tour guide traveling to England with German school kids aged 11 to 18 years. As a native German speaker it was my responsibility to translate information while on the tour and make them appealing for a young audience. In 2014 I worked as organizer and guide of different food tours in Sydney (Australia). On a weekly base I guided my own Dessert Tour with both local visitors and tourists of all ages. Because of my good performance I was also responsible for the job training of future guides. My guiding jobs gave me lots of practice in enthralling people - which is a great skill for teachers, too, as I believe. Currently I am working as self-employed "online allrounder", earning my living by translating, teaching German and blogging. My Mission on University Tutor: I want to teach high quality, fun German language lessons to students from all over the world, from beginner level to proficient. When I'm teaching I always consider my student's needs and wishes. You tell me what you want to learn - I make it possible! :) By the way, I enjoy drawing a lot and offer drawing classes, too, in case you are interested.

Hobbies

I'm a happy, communicative and out-going person who loves to work in direct interaction with people. I am proud of my positive attitude and great communication skills. I love broadening my mind and traveling. Yet I have traveled almost 30 countries and there's no end in sight. I enjoy getting to know different cultures and languages with heart and soul. I am glad that I can look back to lots of great cross-cultural experiences in the last few years and am looking forward to more, like here on University Tutor. :) I grew up in Germany and have an excellent knowledge of the German language in speech and writing. Having spent the last 2.5 years living, working and studying in English speaking countries like Australia and the USA makes my English fluent as well, so we shouldn't have any communication problems during the lessons. Currently I am living and working in Spain to improve my Spanish. I am a passionate and open-minded learner with a good memory. I enjoy broadening my mind and trying out new things. And to quote Ruth Beechick, “a teacher who loves learning earns the right and the ability to help others learn.” Thanks for reading my profile! Now you are very welcome to get in touch with me concerning the lessons I have on offer. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have! Thanks and have a great day! :) Cheers, Brina
